Przemek Gdański

President of the Management Board

Responsible for day-to-day management of the Bank and work performed by the Management Board. He represents the Bank's Management Board towards third parties.

His responsibilities also comprise overall supervision over the Bank’s organizational units. He supervises the Bank Management, Strategy & Agro Markets Area, including supervising the Bank’s compliance with law provisions, internal regulations and market standards. His supervisory duties also cover the Internal Audit Line, the Compliance Line, Legal Line, Marketing, Communication, Social Involvement Line, Agro-business Line, Strategy and Market Analysis Line. He also supervises the HR Area and Transformation Area.

Przemek Gdański graduated from the University of Gdańsk (MSc in Economics) and took a one-year program in international banking and finance at Loughborough University in the UK. He completed Advanced Management Program at IESE Business School and several professional and executive development programs at Harvard Business School, London Business School, University of California, Berkeley - Haas School of Business, Ashridge - Hult International Business School and HEC.

He has over 25 years of banking experience. From 1993 to 1995 he worked for IBP Bank SA, then for ABN AMRO Bank in Poland, Romania and in the headquarters in Amsterdam. From 2002 to 2006 he was managing director of Large Corporates Division in BPH Bank. From May to November 2006 - CEO and general director of Calyon Bank Polska and Calyon SA Branch in Poland. In November 2006 he was appointed to the position of deputy CEO in BPH Bank, responsible for corporate banking and real estate financing. After the merger of part of BPH Bank and Pekao SA - deputy CEO of Pekao SA, responsible for Corporate Banking, Markets and Investment Banking Division. Member and vice president of the Management Board of mBank (formerly BRE Bank) from November 19, 2008 to October 25, 2017, responsible for Corporate and Investment Banking.

Since November 2, 2017 he has been the CEO of BNP Paribas Bank Polska S.A. and a Territory Head for BNP Paribas, supervising BNP Paribas Group’s enterprises in Poland. He has a proven record of supporting diversity, gender equality and women’s entrepreneurship. In March 2018 he has been awarded Male Champion of Change accolade presented by Success Written with Lipstick Foundation in the recognition of his achievements in advocacy for women and his encouragement of their professional development.

Mr. Przemek Gdański meets the requirements of Art. 22aa of the Banking Law dated 29 August 1997 (as amended).

Bartosz Urbaniak

Head of AgroHub CEE & Africa BNP Paribas Group

Graduate of banking at the Faculty of Finance and Statistics of SGH Warsaw School of Economics He completed a postgraduate programme for foreigners at the Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine in Japan.

Participant and graduate of many training courses and educational programmes, including Harvard Business School, IESE, Ashridge College.

At the beginning of his professional career (1995-2001) he joined the Warsaw Commodities Exchange (WGT), performing many functions, from a student trainee at the time of founding WGT to the Vice-President of the Management Board in 1999-2001.

In 2001-2002, he worked for the Agricultural Market Agency, where he was Deputy Director of the Market Intervention Office and held the position of Director for Plant Products. He has been working for Bank BGŻ since 2002, initially as Vice Director of the Separate Credit Department (in 2002-2003). He then became Director of the Institutional Banking Development Department (2003-2005). Since September 2005, he has held various functions in the area of agribusiness, including Director of the Agribusiness Finance Department and Managing Director for Agribusiness and SMEs. From March 2015 to February 2018 he was a Member of the Board of Bank BGŻ BNP Paribas.

Marie-Christine Le Gal

Agricultural counsellor for the regional sector, French Embassy in Warsaw

has been working for over ten years in the agricultural sector, during which she has taken on many different positions, in France and abroad.

Since December 2018, she works at the French Embassy in Warsaw, as the Agricultural counsellor for the regional sector including Poland, Hungary and Baltic countries. The role of the Agricultural counsellor is to promote French agricultural policies, to support French businesses, and to follow the agricultural news, regulations and policies of the countries in the region. Before, Marie-Christine Le Gal worked at the French embassy in Russia, and in Paris, within the ministries of Agriculture and Economy, notably on trade agreements and innovation in agribusiness.

Marie-Christine Le Gal is a veterinary Doctor, and holds an advanced degree in Veterinary Public Health.

Peter Schmidt

President of the EESC Section on Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment (NAT), European Economic and Social Committee

Born in 1962, Peter Schmidt's first occupation was cheesemaker. Later on he was a regional officer of the NGG trade union (Food and Catering Union, affiliated to the DGB) for 27 years, in charge of dairy industries and bakeries.

Since 2014 he has been a member of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC)'s Group II (Workers).

From 2015 to March 2018, he was the president of the EESC's Permanent Study Group on Sustainable Food Systems, and from April 2018 to September 2020 he was the president of the EESC's Sustainable Development Observatory. Since October 2020, he is the President of the EESC Section on Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment (NAT).

Mr Dorsemaine has also held a number of positions within Global Affairs Canada (Canada’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Development) including Chief of Staff to the Assistant Deputy Minister for Sub-Saharan Africa, Deputy Director for the European Bilateral Relations and Advocacy, Deputy Director for Eastern and Southern Africa Relations, as well as working on issues such as international financing, venture capital and private equity, trade missions strategy and planning, and business sector support.

Alicia Hernandez

Agricultural Counselor

Alicia Hernandez arrived in Warsaw, Poland in August 2021 to lead the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) team.

She and her staff liaise with the Polish government on agricultural policy issues, engage with farmer organizations to understand crop development, and implement marketing activities to promote the consumption of U.S. agricultural products in Poland. The USDA office also covers the same topics for the Baltics. In addition, Alicia manages USDA offices in Romania and Bulgaria and the locally staff there.

Before her assignment in Poland, Alicia served as the Director of the U.S. Agricultural Trade Office (ATO) in Hong Kong and Macau from November 2017-June 2021. She guided her staff to promote U.S. agricultural products in the United States’ ninth-largest export market worth more than $3 billion annually and engaged with local governments on food safety and animal and plant health issues.

It also became an inspiration for the creators of the film of the same title. "The Best" directed by Łukasz Palkowski won as many as 5 awards at the Feature Film Festival in Gdynia.
